The Spiritual Journey

Don’t let the Insta-New-Ageists fool you. The spiritual journey isn’t all pretty crystals, sunshine, smiles, and yoga poses against stunning backdrops of nature’s beauty. The spiritual journey, in fact, is a journey that will absolutely destroy you. It’s a journey that will take you to the core of your being, and along the way, annihilate anything that is standing in the way of you returning to who you truly are.

And is that an easy journey?

Absolutely not — and that’s why most people don’t choose this way.

Coming face to face with yourself, unconditioning yourself from all the conditioning that was thrust upon you from the moment you were conceived, unravelling your trauma, entering your darkness, undoing everything you once knew to be true about yourself? It is the absolute hardest thing ever. Along the way, you will lose family, friends, career, status, wealth, and mostly yourself, over and over again. Take that from someone who has been on her own path for ten years now and has still only uncovered the tip of the iceberg.

But don’t get me wrong. Being on this spiritual journey of healing, returning, and becoming all that you were here to be is a beautiful way of life and why I believe we are here in the first place. And now that I’ve found this way I honestly would not and could not do life any other way. I couldn’t even imagine returning to who I was before I went through my spiritual awakening.

As well as all the difficulties along this path, please know that there is equally if not more, beauty. You get to feel all the joy, and all the Love, and all the Light — it’s incredible. But there’s no doubt that sometimes, it can just feel too much.

A Man Who Lived It

A name that most people know and love is Rumi, the 13th-century Persian poet, Islamic scholar, and Sufi mystic who expressed the struggles and beauty of his spiritual journey and his abounding love for God and his spiritual master, Shams of Tabriz, through poetry.
